What is ADAS and does my vehicle have it?

ADAS stands for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems — lane departure warning, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, and parking assist. If your vehicle has any of these, it has ADAS, and it has cameras and radar sensors that depend on precise aim.

Why does my vehicle need ADAS calibration?

These systems rely on cameras and radar sensors aimed with extraordinary precision — a camera off by a fraction of a degree is aimed feet off target at a hundred yards. Any windshield replacement, alignment change, suspension repair, bumper work, or collision repair can disturb that aim. Calibration restores it to factory specification.

Do I need calibration after a windshield replacement?

Yes, on almost any vehicle with a forward-facing camera. That camera is mounted to the windshield, and replacing the glass moves it. Driving away without recalibrating means your automatic emergency braking and lane keeping systems are working from bad data — which is worse than not having them.

Can any shop program a module or a key?

No. Module programming and key programming require manufacturer software subscriptions, secure gateway access, and specialized equipment. Many shops do not have them, which is why this work usually gets sent to the dealer. We have the tools and the training to do it here.
