RAM

Schedule Service

RAM trucks earn their keep in New England — plowing driveways, towing trailers, and carrying tools through every kind of weather this region produces. Auto Care Plus services the RAM lineup at our New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Maine locations, including the RAM 1500, 2500, 3500, and the ProMaster and ProMaster City vans, across HEMI V8, Pentastar V6, EcoDiesel, and Cummins diesel powertrains.

Diesel Service Requires Diesel Attention

Cummins and EcoDiesel engines have maintenance requirements that gasoline engines do not — fuel filter replacement on a real schedule, diesel exhaust fluid quality, and emissions system health including the diesel particulate filter and EGR. Short-trip winter driving is particularly hard on diesel emissions systems, because the exhaust never gets hot enough for a complete regeneration cycle. We diagnose and service these systems rather than simply clearing codes.

HEMI Engines and the Lifter Question

The 5.7-liter HEMI uses a cylinder deactivation system, and lifter failure in that system is a known pattern, often announced by a tick and a misfire code on a specific cylinder. Early diagnosis keeps it from becoming a camshaft repair. On any HEMI, oil change discipline with the correct viscosity is the most effective preventive step there is.

Front End Wear on Working Trucks

Heavy-duty RAM trucks with a solid front axle work their steering and suspension components hard, especially with a plow mounted. Track bar, ball joints, steering damper, and tie rod ends all wear, and the symptom is wandering or vague steering long before anything fails outright. We inspect the full front end and prioritize what actually needs attention.

Diesel Fuel, DEF, and Cold Weather

Winter diesel operation has requirements gasoline drivers never think about. Fuel gels at low temperature unless it is properly treated or blended for winter, and a gelled fuel filter will stop a truck cold. Diesel exhaust fluid freezes at about twelve degrees Fahrenheit, which is normal and the system is designed to thaw it, but a DEF system fault in winter needs proper diagnosis rather than assumption. Battery demand is also much higher on a diesel, and glow plug or grid heater function determines whether the engine starts at all on a bitter morning. We check all of it as part of a pre-winter diesel service.

Service and Fleet Support

NH and ME state inspections, fleet programs, diesel service, brake and suspension repair, and complete diagnostics are available for every RAM at all Auto Care Plus locations.
