Schedule Service

Nissan sells well in New England because the vehicles are affordable, comfortable, and available with all-wheel drive in the models that need it. Auto Care Plus services the full Nissan lineup at our New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Maine shops — Rogue, Rogue Sport, Altima, Sentra, Versa, Murano, Pathfinder, Armada, Kicks, Frontier, and Titan, along with the Leaf and Ariya electric models.

The CVT Conversation, Honestly

Nissan’s Xtronic continuously variable transmission has a mixed reputation, and the honest version is this: fluid condition and operating temperature determine how long it lasts. A CVT that gets clean fluid on a real interval, in a vehicle that is not chronically overloaded or towing beyond its rating, generally does fine. One that has never had a fluid service at 90,000 miles is living on borrowed time. We check CVT fluid condition at every service and tell you plainly where yours stands.

What Else We See

Beyond the transmission, the common Nissan items are straightforward: timing chain tensioner rattle on QR25DE four-cylinder engines, catalytic converter faults, rear suspension bushings worn by salt, and A/C compressor failures. Nissan electrical systems are generally robust, though the intelligent key and body control modules can produce confusing symptoms when a battery goes weak.

Weak Batteries Cause Strange Problems

This is worth saying clearly. On modern Nissans, a battery that is marginal but not dead causes dashboard warning lights, CVT warning messages, push-button start failures, and stability control faults that look far more expensive than they are. Before we chase an electronic fault on a Nissan, we test the battery and charging system properly.

Underbody Condition on Older Nissans

Nissans from the mid-2000s through the early 2010s, particularly the Frontier, Xterra, Pathfinder, and Altima, are worth inspecting carefully underneath once they pass a decade in this region. Rear subframe corrosion, brake and fuel line condition, and exhaust hardware are the areas that matter. A vehicle can look excellent from ten feet away and have structural corrosion that changes the entire calculation about what is worth repairing. We give you a straight assessment, including telling you when a repair no longer makes financial sense on a particular vehicle — that is a more useful answer than an estimate you will regret paying.
