Schedule Service

GMC trucks and SUVs are built for work, and in New England that means plowing, towing, hauling, and running through six months of road salt every year. Auto Care Plus services the full GMC lineup at our New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Maine locations — Sierra 1500 through 3500, Canyon, Terrain, Acadia, Yukon, Yukon XL, and the Hummer EV.

Severe Duty Is the Normal Duty Here

If your Sierra pushes snow, tows a trailer, or carries weight, the manufacturer severe service schedule applies, not the normal one. That means shorter oil intervals, earlier transmission and differential fluid service, more frequent brake inspection, and real attention to the cooling system. We set up a maintenance plan that matches how the truck is actually used rather than how the brochure assumed it would be.

Cylinder Deactivation and the V8 Tick

GMC’s 5.3-liter and 6.2-liter V8 engines use Active Fuel Management or Dynamic Fuel Management, and lifter failure in those systems is a known pattern. The symptom is a tick that grows louder, often with a misfire code on a specific cylinder. Catching it early keeps it a lifter repair instead of a camshaft replacement, so it is not something to drive on for months.

Brake and Fuel Lines Are a Safety Item Here

Corroded hard lines along the frame are one of the most common serious findings we make on GM trucks in this region. A brake line can look fine from a distance and be paper thin underneath. We inspect lines on every truck that comes in, not only when there is a complaint.

Before the Plow Goes On

The right time to service a plow truck is September, not January. A plow adds several hundred pounds to the front axle, which loads ball joints, wheel bearings, and torsion bars or springs in ways the truck was not designed for as a permanent condition. The transmission works hard in repeated forward and reverse cycles at low speed, which generates heat with very little airflow. We inspect the front end thoroughly, check transmission and differential fluid condition, test the cooling system and charging system under load, and verify that the plow’s electrical connections are sound before the first storm rather than during it.

Service and Fleet Support

NH and ME state inspections, fleet maintenance programs, brake and suspension repair, transmission service, and complete diagnostics are available for every GMC at all Auto Care Plus locations.
