Land Rover builds genuinely capable vehicles, and in New England they spend most of their time doing school runs and snowy commutes rather than fording rivers. Auto Care Plus services the Land Rover lineup at our New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Maine locations, including the Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Velar, Evoque, Discovery, Discovery Sport, and Defender.
Proactive Maintenance Is Not Optional
Land Rover ownership rewards owners who stay ahead of maintenance and punishes those who wait for symptoms. Cooling systems, air suspension, and oil leaks all follow predictable timelines on these vehicles. Addressing a leaking air spring, a seeping coolant fitting, or a weeping gasket at the first sign is dramatically less expensive than dealing with the consequence. Any experienced Land Rover technician will give you the same advice.
Air Suspension Deserves Specific Attention
Most Land Rover models use air suspension, and it is excellent when healthy. The failure sequence is consistent: an air spring develops a leak as the rubber ages, the compressor runs more and more to compensate, and eventually the compressor fails. If your Land Rover sits low or unevenly after sitting overnight, that is the signal to act — replacing the leaking spring then protects the compressor, which is the more expensive component.
Cooling Systems and Oil Leaks
Plastic cooling components, thermostat housings, and coolant fittings become brittle with heat cycling. Supercharged and turbocharged engines run hot under the hood, which accelerates it. Oil leaks from valve cover and timing cover gaskets follow a similar timeline. We assess these as systems rather than replacing one failed part at a time.
Pre-Purchase Inspection Is Not Optional Here
If you are considering a used Land Rover, have it inspected first — this is the vehicle category where that advice pays for itself most reliably. We check air suspension function and look for evidence of a compressor working too hard, pressure test the cooling system and inspect the plastic components for early cracking, look for oil leaks at the usual gasket locations, assess differential and transfer case fluid condition, and pull stored and pending fault codes across every module. That last step routinely surfaces a history the seller did not volunteer. A good used Land Rover is a genuinely rewarding vehicle. A neglected one is expensive, and the difference is visible in an hour on a lift.
