Chevrolet has a vehicle for nearly every New England driver, from the Silverado on a job site to the Equinox in a school pickup line. Auto Care Plus services the full Chevrolet range at our New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Maine shops — Silverado, Colorado, Equinox, Traverse, Tahoe, Suburban, Blazer, Trax, Trailblazer, Malibu, and the Bolt EV and EUV.
The Small-Block Family Is Durable — With Caveats
GM’s 5.3-liter and 6.2-liter V8 engines will run a very long time, but the Active Fuel Management and Dynamic Fuel Management cylinder deactivation systems have a known history of lifter failure and oil consumption. The warning signs are a tick that grows louder, a misfire code on a specific cylinder, or oil disappearing between changes. Diagnosing this early is the difference between a lifter job and a camshaft replacement.
Four-Cylinder Turbos and the 9-Speed
Newer Equinox, Malibu, and Trailblazer models use small turbocharged engines paired with six- and nine-speed automatics. These are efficient and generally reliable, but they are sensitive to oil quality and level, and the transmissions benefit from fluid service well before the mileage most owners assume. We use GM DEXOS-approved oil and the correct transmission fluid specification every time.
Winter Is Hard on GM Brakes and Lines
Rear brake lines, fuel lines, and caliper hardware on GM trucks and SUVs corrode aggressively in salt. We inspect lines on every vehicle, not just when you report a problem, because a brake line that fails does so suddenly. This is one of the most valuable things a New England shop can do for a truck owner.
Tow Packages Deserve a Look Before Summer
Trailer wiring, the trailer brake controller, hitch hardware, and the cooling system all sit unused for eight months of New England winter and then get asked to work hard on the first warm weekend. Corroded trailer connectors are the single most common towing complaint we see in spring, and they are trivially fixable before the trip and infuriating during it. We check connector condition and function, verify brake controller operation, inspect the hitch and safety chain attachment points for corrosion, and assess the cooling system and transmission fluid condition against the load you actually intend to pull.
