5 Reasons to Keep Your Car Well-Maintained

Thanks for visiting the Auto Care Plus auto care blog. Today’s post lists 5 important reasons you should follow recommended maintenance schedules.

  1. Be Safe and Get where you are Going Reliably

A well-maintained car doesn’t put you and your passengers at unnecessary risk. Think brakes, headlamps and all exterior lighting, clean windshield and new wipers, tires, steering and suspension. Bad tires and worn suspension have a profound affect on traction and stopping distances…especially in rain and snow.

  1. Get Better Fuel Economy

Regular maintenance is an investment in optimum fuel economy. Inadequate tire pressure, a dirty fuel system and a clogged air filter are just a few things that reduce fuel economy. Not to mention that a properly functioning vehicle will produce a smaller carbon footprint. A win for you and the environment.

  1. Preserve Resale Value

How many used car buyers will pay full Blue Book for a dirty car with a filthy engine, clogged filters, dirty vital fluids, weak battery, dings and dents and bald tires? Your car is a very important investment and caring for it should not be taken lightly.

  1. Don’t Void Your Warranty

Your powertrain warranty claims may be denied if your service history doesn’t fulfill the minimum requirements recommended by the vehicle manufacturer. Follow the Auto Care Plus maintenance plan below to ensure compliance.

  1. Save Money

Regular maintenance drastically reduces the chance of catastrophic failures and expensive repairs. Oil changes are much cheaper than a new engine!

Here are some Auto Care Plus tips to help you remember the main items:

First: Fluids. Oil, transmission fluid, coolant, power steering fluid, brake fluid, differential fluid, etc. We live and operate our vehicles in harsh weather. This requires you follow the severe service schedule below:

Every 5,000 miles – Change Engine Oil and Filter, Rotate Tires, Complete Preventative Maintenance and Safety Inspection

Every 30K Miles – Exchange Transmission Fluid, Flush Coolant System, Flush Brake Fluid, Flush Power Steering Fluid. Change 4WD/All-wheel drive fluids (includes front/rear differential fluids and transfer case fluids for most vehicles)

Air and Fuel. Air filter replacement, fuel filters and Auto Care Plus fuel system cleaning.

Every 12K Miles – Change Engine Air Filter and Cabin Air Filter

Every 50K Miles – Fuel System Service, replace fuel filter (when applicable)

Then think Tires. Air pressure, rotation, balancing, and alignment. And while you’re thinking tires, think brakes and shock absorbers.

This doesn’t cover everything, but we at Auto Care Plus will help you with the rest.
